Stir stuff into it and it takes on a taste like we have not had before, with our healthy, sweet, and savoury bowls.
Where It All Started...
Brian Montgomery spent eight years travelling across North America in a long distance relationship.
Through countless airports, towns and cities, he found it was impossible to find a food offering that was healthy, fast, casual and original.
We aren’t originally from the restaurant industry which means we bring a different perspective to running a cafe. We thought there was a better way to run a restaurant.
There were many lessons learned along the way, from building a cafe from scratch and taking over another location, to perfecting the cooking of oats, to finding the best team.
All of which have contributed to our current franchising approach.

No, that’s what we’re here for! When we started Oat Couture Oatmeal Cafe we had never ran a restaurant and we learned a few lessons the hard way. We’ve taken this wealth of knowledge and experience and stirred it (pardon the pun!) into our franchise program. We can’t wait to help others own their own cafe and provide the support you need to make it a success.
We’re here for whatever you need. We say that as we know unexpected things come up. We will help you with site selection, design and buildout, training, learning operations, inventory, marketing and so much more.
You’ll be training in everything you need to know to run cafe. From making the perfect latte, to managing inventory, to forecasting your P&L and figuring out your labour costs. We have an extensive training program that encompases everything a cafe owner, cafe manager and front of house staff member needs to know.
We will continue to work together regularly, as much, or as little as you need. We want to see your business grow and be a success just as much as you do. We know that a one size fits all approach doesn’t always work, so we will figure out with you what is the best way to work together.
Our franchise fee is $25,000.
6% of monthly gross sales.
1% of monthly gross sales is contributed to the master marketing fund. We know from our own experience that sometimes the best local marketing campaigns can cost next to nothing, so there are no local marketing spend requirements. That being said, we will highly encourage you to focus on marketing at certain times as marketing efforts can increase sales.
On average, opening an Oat Couture Oatmeal Cafe costs between $245,000 to $385,000.
This is very much dependent on the location. A takeover of an existing cafe (which we highly recommend!) can take as little as 4 week. A full build out of an empty space can take up to 6 months if a lot of work is required. We’ll discuss this with you when evaluating different locations and help you put a plan together and find the perfect location.
Canadian franchise laws prohibit restaurants from giving potential franchisees information that could lead to any expectations of future earnings.
Not currently!
We are looking for franchisees who are excited at the idea of building their own cafe and want to be invested in the process. We will provide our design guide with you and you will work with a designer and architect to plan the cafe.
We do! We have establish relationships with suppliers and have found the best products and prices. We also have a fully operating kitchen that produces many of the ingredients ourself.
Our current focus is building locations in the Ottawa area. We are also starting to find franchisees to work with for other major cities across Canada and in the USA. Regardless of where you are location, reach out to us and let’s get to know one another!
